Some babies arrive like wildflowers, unplanned and impossible not to love. Violet’s card is a frame of coral poppies, white daisies and small paper blossoms climbing all four corners of cream paper, with the title written in a flowing hand across the top.
It is a girl’s card, for a party in a garden or on a porch between April and September. The field in the drawing stays as it is; who, when and where are yours to fill in, and the writing is large enough to read on a phone held at arm’s length.
Carry the meadow into the party: jars of real wildflowers on every table, a flower crown for the guest of honor, lemonade in a glass jug and a cake with pressed edible flowers. Send guests home with a paper packet of seeds and the date written on it.
