The bow is the whole idea. A wide burgundy velvet ribbon folds across the top of the card, catching the light the way real velvet does, and under it the paper is warm cream with a copper heading and a sweeping script for the hosts. It feels like an evening that starts at seven and runs past midnight.
Choose it for a Christmas dinner party for grown-ups, a holiday engagement dinner, an anniversary that falls in December, or a company’s year-end dinner that wants to look like a private one. Two first names in the script look especially good; so does a surname with a drawing room or a dining room as the place.
Dress the room to match: candles, dark red flowers, one good tablecloth. Mid-November is not too early for this one, and your message should say whether it is cocktail or black tie.
