A cow with a red bandana, a pink pig, a duckling on a hay bale and a cake with candles between them: this is a birthday on a farm, drawn the way children draw farms, all smiles and bright colors. The words go on a wooden sign, hand-painted letters and all. It suits the birthdays where the guests are two, three and four and the entertainment is a bucket of animal crackers.
Party at the barn is painted on the sign, then the name and age, the date, the place and the RSVP. Change the details and send it as a picture or a clip; the balloons in the video come out in barn red, yellow and sky blue. It prints well too, for the daycare cupboards.
For the party: hay bales to sit on if you can get them, a petting-zoo visit if the budget allows, otherwise a “feed the animals” bean-bag toss, cow-print napkins, a barn cake and mini muffins as “chicken feed”. Rubber boots are welcome. Ages one to five, boys and girls. Send three weeks ahead; the youngest guests have the busiest calendars.
