Ready for takeoff. A corgi puppy, tongue out, party hat on, grips the controls of a rocket built from cake, frosting, stars and jewels, and flies it through the clouds with a trail of gold behind it. There is a lot to look at, which is the point: kids find the strawberry, the stars, the castle, and by then they want to come.
The age is the star of this card: a bold headline, the name, and then the number, big. Change it and the card is about your child. Sent as a video, the launch ends in a burst of the picture’s own pink, blue and gold, and the number is the last thing to appear, which five-year-olds appreciate.
Party ideas: a countdown before the cake (“3, 2, 1, blast off!”), star balloons, a rocket cake or a tower of cupcakes with a sparkler on top, and dog-shaped cookies if the corgi is the reason this card was chosen. Ages four to eight, boys and girls. Send two weeks ahead and put the RSVP phone number on the card; replies come faster than you expect.
