Holy Cow, it’s a party. The calf is a shaggy little highland with a green gingham bow, a basket of daisies at its feet and a peach paper balloon on a gingham string, sitting in the grass against a sage checked cloth. The invitation itself is a scalloped cream card with the headline in gold and a daisy for a divider; every piece looks hand-cut and layered.
Jack is turning 2, in warm brown letters, with the date, the time and Buttercup Farm below; replace them with yours and it is ready. The second birthday has its own pun for the line under the name, “Two much fun”; a first birthday gets “Moo-ve over, I’m one” and a third “Three and moo-tiful”, and the calf does not mind any of them.
One to four, boys and girls, and the toddlers point at the calf and laugh, which is the best review a card can get. Gingham napkins, daisies in jam jars, a shaggy fondant cow on the cake, cow-print hats and a small hay bale for photos. Three weeks’ notice; families with little ones plan around naps.
