Shake it and the snow starts. A plump penguin in a chunky blue scarf stands inside a snow globe with a dotted gift box at its feet, tiny houses with lit windows behind it and paper snowflakes drifting around the silver rim. The base is blue and silver filigree, and A Flurry of Fun is lettered in frosted blue at the top of the glass.
Ella is turning 3 in deep navy on the snow, then December 5, 1 to 3 PM and Snowdrop Lodge in spaced capitals with a snowflake between. Yours go in the same places. For a December child the line under the name often becomes “Winter one-derland” for a first birthday, “Chill out, I’m three” or “Snow much fun”.
For two- to six-year-olds. A winter party at home is simple: paper snowflakes on the windows, cocoa with marshmallows, a snowball toss with pom-poms and a round white cake with a fondant penguin. Three weeks’ notice at least; December calendars fill fast.
