Ahoy. A bear captain in a red coat stands at the ship’s wheel, parrot on his shoulder, treasure chest open beside him, an island waiting on the horizon. The words go on a scroll of old parchment, which is exactly where a pirate would write them. It is the invitation for a party with a plan: there is treasure somewhere, and the guests are going to find it.
The wording sails along: the captain’s name and age, all hands on deck for a treasure hunt, the date, the ship’s location and who to RSVP to. As a video, gold flies with the rest of the confetti, and the card can arrive out of an envelope like a message in a bottle.
The party: a real treasure hunt with a map on brown paper (tea-stained and dried, five minutes of work), eye patches and bandanas at the door, a chest of chocolate coins as the prize, and a cake shaped like an island. Ages four to nine, boys and girls both. Send it two weeks ahead, and expect “Aye!” as an RSVP.
