Is there a small ballerina in your house who has watched the Nutcracker five times this month? Then this is her invitation. Red velvet curtains open on a ballroom, the Christmas tree shines, the Nutcracker stands guard and the dancers spin in tulle.
It works for a holiday party for kids of about four to ten, a dance class get-together, or a playdate after a matinee of the ballet. Add your own place, the day and the time, and tell guests if tutus and party shoes are welcome. They usually are.
Party ideas come right out of the picture: a sugar plum snack table with pink frosted cookies and candied fruit, a short dance-off to the Waltz of the Flowers, paper crowns for the boys, and a toy nutcracker as the prize for the best twirl.
