Somewhere around five, a child decides the solar system is theirs, and the party has to follow. This invitation gives them a rocket with an orange flame, a cratered blue moon, a ringed planet or two and a scatter of gold stars, all set on cream paper so the headline still reads at a glance.
The name goes in the middle in the same deep blue as the headline, slanted like it is already taking off. Add the day, the time and where the launch happens, and the card is complete.
For the party, hang a few planets from the ceiling on string, hand out glow sticks for the countdown, and finish with a cake shaped like a planet or a rocket. An afternoon of two hours is the right orbit for this age. Ask parents to reply by text so you know how many astronauts to expect.
