The circus is one of the few party themes that works at three and still works at nine. This card comes in through the tent flaps: a red and cream striped canopy, little pennants, a gold-trimmed headline and a few paper pinwheels and stars along the bottom corners.
The birthday child’s name sits in warm red and gold, big enough to be the main act, with the date and the place below it in dark red. Type in those three things and the show is announced.
Give the party a ringmaster with a hat, popcorn in striped boxes, a simple juggling station with scarves, and a “strongman” game with foam weights. If the weather holds, a backyard with a borrowed canopy is a real tent. A short program of acts, then cake, then everyone goes home while they are still happy.
