Weekend at the Lake is written in gold over a cabin deck at sunset, chairs face the water, a fire pit glows in the middle, and the name is set in a forest green italic serif on the pale deck below. It is a twenty-first that lasts the whole weekend, not just one night.
Rent a cabin or borrow a family place: a fire on the first night with s’mores, a boat or kayaks the next morning, pancakes for the crowd, a birthday dinner on the deck and sparklers by the water after dark. Flannel, swimsuits and a playlist cover the dress code.
Fill in the name, the date and the cabin, and send it a month ahead so friends can take the days off. A bachelor weekend or a fortieth at the lake can take it over without changing a line.
